It’s not our traffic

Re: Potential Maeford Place expansion irks residents, the Observer, Nov. 5.
I am a tenant in Maeford Place and I am sorry our neighbour thinks what she does.
Maeford Place is a much-needed facility for the elderly people in Quesnel and area.
I have been here for a year and any noise I hear comes from town traffic – especially going and coming from the high school – not Maeford Place.
Very few tenants here have cars.

The Salvation Army often has sales of blinds and drapes that would provide the privacy this person requires. There is also a high fence between her property and the parking areas, provided by the owner of Maeford Place.
I haven’t counted the number of driveways from Kinchant Street or McNaughton Street, but there are many to the highway. Why was our parking area singled out? Perhaps the street lights are an invasion.
About the extra parking – no one here has complained about truck repairs being done on the street or large motor homes last summer or logging trucks parked.
These people should take up knitting or puzzles. There has to be more in life than counting cars and trucks and taking pictures of them.
Did you write up about the wild parties last summer down the street? No.
When the police come it is usually about the school children hanging out on the corner. At our age, ambulances are unfortunately a necessary evil.
We drive and have never had any problem pulling out of the parking area. I have a plain view from my window of the street. I have never seen a parking or a pulling-out problem. I felt your report was biased.

Service worth remembering

Staff and students at Correlieu secondary thank Shawn Smith and all students involved in the Remembrance Day assembly held Monday, Nov. 10.
It was obvious a great deal of preparation was involved in co-ordinating the band, jazz band and singers. The student body should be proud of their behaviour during this solemn assembly.
We would like to thank MLA Bob Simpson for his speech explaining the relevance of Remembrance Day in a manner meaningful to students and Sushil Thapar for his important words regarding Remembrance Day.
