CRD ELECTION ‘Responsible representation’

Faust believes she’s the better choice in Area B

Her life philosophy is about empowering individuals and communities.

Roberta Faust is running for Cariboo Regional District director area B. She hopes to unseat incumbent Ken Falloon, who is seeking his second term.

“I feel there’s a lack of respect for the volunteer base in area B,” Faust said.

“And they’re the experts in our community.”

Faust noted area B’s large coverage area.

“More than 1,400 square kilometres,” she said.

“That’s a big area to represent.”

But, she said, you need to be mindful of all residents and all areas. Simply focusing on one portion of your riding is not doing the Quesnel West, Bouchie Lake residents justice.

“You need to listen – to everyone,” she said.

“I feel some residents in area B aren’t being heard as much as others.”

And, she added, she should know.

Faust has been an area B resident for more than 20 years. She feels having lived on Blackwater Road for 21 years gives her insight into area B issues. Add to that her 23 years of business experience assisting individuals and groups and Faust feels she brings valuable tools and skills to the CRD table.

Through her business, R Faust Consulting, Faust also gained experience as a contractor to governments and agencies, completed contracts on time and within budget and met and or exceeded contract goals.

“I had a large clientele,” Faust said, now retired for five years.

“And I always put the client before bureaucracy – always.

“I feel all those skills are transferable to that of a CRD director.”

Faust is also running on a “proven history” of:

• positive community interactions,

• commitment to problem solving, and

• commitment to continued learning and openness.

And while she says the proposed multi-centre is the “will of the people,” she’s also quick to give it her vote of approval and applaud the volunteer base spearheading the project.

“What I want or what Ken wants doesn’t matter,” she said.

“Will I vote yes? Yes, I will. But what needs to be noted is the countless hours and weeks and months and years of work from tireless volunteers.

“These people are realistic achievers with a goal of not only maintaining, but growing our community.”

Because, as she sees it, it’s about coming together as a community to solve problems, celebrate successes and move forward.

“I will provide area B residents with responsible representation based on respect and community expertise,” she said.

Municipal elections are Nov. 15.
