Vaccine rolled out in four stages

The H1N1 vaccine is available this week (Nov. 2 – 6), to people 65 and under with chronic illness, pregnant women in the second half of their pregnancy (20 weeks plus) and persons residing in rural and remote area.

The clinic is held at the Seniors Centre, 461 Carson, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Week two of the vaccine is for children six months to five years of age, healthcare workers, care providers or household contacts for those with infants under six months of age or persons with compromised immune systems. The clinics are Held at the Seniors Centre, Nov. 9 – 13, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Week three of the vaccine is for healthy children age five to 18 years of age, first responders (police, firefighters etc.) poultry workers, swine workers, healthy adults 19 – 64 and adults 65 years of age and older.

The clinics are held Nov.16 – 19 at the Seniors Centre, 1 – 7 p.m.

Week four of the vaccine is for everyone. Clinics are held at the Seniors Centre, Nov. 23 – 27 1 – 7 p.m.

Symptoms of H1N1 flu in people appear to be similar to those of regular seasonal flu and include: Fever of more than 100 degrees Celcius, cough, sore throat, muscle aches, headache, chills, fatigue, diarrhea (not common) and vomiting (not common).
