North Cariboo voters gave their thumbs up Saturday to saying yes to the proposed multi-centre.
Unofficial referendum results reveal 2,765 people said yes, while 2,525 people said no. The yes vote allows the city and CRD to borrow up to $15 million from taxpayers, meaning they'll be assessed $60 per $100,000 of property value. However, the assessment won't come into effect until the other half of funding from senior government has been secured.
The proposed $30 million multi-centre includes a 2,000-seat arena and 450-seat performing arts theatre as well as meeting space.
