Where are our priorities?

To the editor:
I wish to respond to the two articles in the Sept. 30 issue of the 100 Mile Free Press, headlined Women’s centre seeks funding and Feral cat trapping underway.
I suppose a battered woman and a poorly-clothed, undernourished child do not have the same visual attraction as a kitten.
Here is a quote from the 100 Mile Free Press taken from the article, headlined Women’s centre seeks funding: “Mayor Campsall told the delegation council cannot offer any money.”
Here is another quote taken from the article, headlined Feral cat trapping underway: “The district is paying $50 per cat.”
They trapped nine adults and five kittens. That is a cost of $750. Think about it.
The article goes on to state, “there are a few more on the loose, but district staff will be setting more traps in the weeks ahead.”
Where are our priorities?
Webster Dictionary’s definition of the word priorities — order of preference based on urgency, importance or merit.
