Garlic garb found

I am pleased to report Mr. Garlie is breathing a huge

sigh of relief after learning

his costume, worn for the annual Garlic Festival, has been found.

The outfit went AWOL after the 2008 festival, leaving Mr. Garlie, the festival mascot, to carry

out his ambassador duties in street clothes

at the 2009 festival.

Frank Manley — aka Mr. Garlie — told me that

he, along with many people from the community were disappointed with the absence of the costume last year.

Frank told me he was grateful Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett solved the disappearance case.

Prior to the 2009 event, Mr. Garlic says, Donna told

festival organizers exactly

where the costume had last been put

away, but they couldn’t see it as it was hidden under an overturned box.

Some time after the festival, Donna found time in her busy schedule to have a look herself, and within moments, found the costume in the very location she’d described earlier.
