Recognize a deserving local business

It’s time for the South Cariboo Chamber of Commerce’s Academy Awards of Business. If you’ve been given the red carpet treatment at a local business, nominations can be made anytime until January 16, 2009.

Voting will be done by Chamber members and the actual awards ceremony will be held in February. The Chamber has decided to switch to a yearlong nomination format this year. The primary reason for that is customers don’t frequent a lot of businesses on a regular basis. This does not, however, diminish the high quality of service that those businesses offer.

Chamber manager Howard McMillan put it like this: you may have a great experience purchasing a car in June, but how likely are you to remember that in January when it’s time to make a nomination? Not likely.

With the new format, the Chamber expects to see more nominations.

There are 10 award categories, for which virtually any business is eligible. Nomination forms are available at the South Cariboo Visitor Centre, the Chamber of Commerce office, the Wolf Radio Station and are downloadable at the Chamber's website www. scariboochamber.org and the 100 Mile Free Press.
