Going … going … gone!

The 100 Mile House Lions Club is planning its annual auction and dinner, and members want everyone to put it on their calendar.

It’s slated for Nov. 14 at 5:30 p.m. at

the 100 Mile Comm-unity Hall, and according to Lion Kim Taylor, the auction will be a great place to get some Christmas shopping done.

“We’ve got gift packs from the 108 Hills, OSB from Ainsworth Lumber, gift certificates

and a little bit of everything from local stores. There’s going to be hundreds of items.”

All money raised goes back into

the local community and to out-of-town services accessed by locals.

Last year, the Lions supported the Hun City Bike Club, Space Camp for a sight-impaired youth, 100 Mile Food Bank, Variety Club Telethon, Gavin Lake Forestry Camp, Family Enrichment Centre, graduation scholarships for Peter Skene Ogden Secondary School (PSO), PSO boys’ soccer team, 100 Mile soccer fields development, dry grad and Relay for Life as well as several other recipients.

Money also went towards the purchase of a CAT scan machine for Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops and to individuals in 100 Mile House who needed assistance in purchasing medical equipment and other necessities, Taylor explains.

“The Lions Club is about serving the community.”

There are 120 tickets available for the auction and Taylor expects them to sell out.

“People support this because they know the money

will go back into the community and

they can see the

different ways in which we support residents.”

Tickets are $15 each and include the dinner which is being catered by BJ’s. They are available at Whimsey Gifts, Lucky Locker and Money Concepts.

“It’s our major fundraiser of the year,” Taylor says, suggesting people get together for a night out with friends and show their support at the auction.

The 100 Mile House Lions Club is always looking for new members and those interested can contact Taylor at

250-395-7780 during the day or 250-395-4855 evenings.
