Open house attracts area children

The Lone Butte Volunteer Fire De-

partment’s (LBVFD) open house on Oct. 10 at the fire hall was a huge success.

A lot of children got rides in the fire truck. The volunteers offered hotdogs, doughnuts, coffee and other refreshments as well as the very important information on fire safety.

This organization is so important to our community. Not only do they leave their safe homes to go to any and all emergencies, the members are also involved in the community in various supporting ways. Thank you to fire chief Mike Collinge and his band of volunteers; our helmets go off to you.

Open house

Debbie Lambert,

of Cariboo Consign-ment and Crafts, held her open house on Oct. 3.

Her new location at the old Meline Restaurant is easily accessible and she had a wonderful turnout to sample.

AGM

The annual general meeting of the Lone Butte Horse Lake Community Associa-tion (LBHLCA), with elections of officers, will be held on Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. All members are welcome to attend.

Rink dreams melt

Unfortunately, the ice rink planned for the community hall will not go forward.

It seems another business in town is putting in a rink and the community association felt the town wasn’t big enough for two rinks.

There are other ideas for the ice rink area, possibly a basketball or tennis court or a playground.

The LBHLCA needs more members. This is a great community, and if you want something done, you have to be a part of it.

Ceiling finished

On a good note, the ceiling at the hall is completely finished, with new insulation.

A big thank you goes to the contractor and especially to Ken Schmidt for all his work in getting this done and for finishing the boarding.

Halloween plans

The Halloween party is happening on Oct. 31 at the hall and starts at 6 p.m. and a fireworks display by the LBVFD will be held around 8 p.m.

Decorating the hall for this event will begin Oct. 27 at 7 p.m., and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Donations of candy or cash are welcome and can be dropped off at Cariboo Consignment and Crafts. Call Tracey Lervik for more information 250-706-7411.
