TNRD information meeting planned

The Thompson Nicola Regional District (TNRD) will hold a meeting to discuss changes to the transfer station. It will be held July 16 at the 70 Mile Community Hall starting at 7 p.m. For more information call Sally at 456-2423.

Composters

I have received calls about the Worm Factory composters, which are indoor composting kits, mentioned in the folder sent out by the TNRD. I called their office and they will be bringing some of these kits to the above meeting on July 16. Anyone interested can come to the meeting to hear a brief talk on how they work. You can purchase one for $25 at the meeting.

Bingo cancelled

My apologies to all who came out to bingo on June 12 and found nobody there. Joann was forced to cancel at the last minute because there were not enough volunteers to run the event. As this is an ongoing problem in summer, the Cat Shelter Society will schedule the next bingo for September 11. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and bingo starts at 7 p.m.

More about the dump

Judy, the supervisor at the transfer station, is being harassed by complaints about the forthcoming changes in fees.

To be fair, she only carries out the instructions given to her and she is not responsible for the changes. If you have complaints, call Sally at 456-2423, or Don May at 1-877-377-8673.

Carriage event ready

The Carriage driving event at the Huber Farm has received 23 registrations, which is up from last year.

This is a test of driving a horse-drawn carriage through a series of courses that test the drivers ability to handle the horse and carriage.

They are still looking for volunteers to operate stop watches, set up pylons and keep statistics. For any information call Ken at 456-6050. This event will be held July 5 and 6 and is open to the public.

There is no admission fee but you are asked to bring a donation for the food bank.
