When Debbie Lambert of Cariboo Consignment and Crafts moved to the area 10 years ago, her goal was country living where she could raise her young children within a nice community.

While this goal has been happily obtained for Lambert and her family, she has taken her philosophy a step further, and in April 2009, opened her small business in the Lone Butte community.

She turned down the chance to open her store in 100 Mile and opted to operate her consignment and craft business in Lone Butte. Lambert says she felt the need was there and she wanted to fill that niche and provide something tangible and worthwhile for her community.

“I think Lone Butte is going to take off. I really want it to be THE place to stop for locals and commuters.”

Cariboo Consignment and Crafts has great, affordable fashions for the whole family, Lambert says, in a wide variety that includes new and gently used clothing, outerwear, footwear, even ski pants and yoga outfits. The variety of clothing covers all tastes and needs from formal to casual, she adds, and even includes designer labels.

Aside from its location and a kit and caboodle of clothes, Lambert says what really makes her business unique is its large selection of artwork by local artisans and country-style crafts and collectables that include vintage and antique art glass and china.

Paintings and sketches from traditional oils to Haida-style pen-and-ink drawings are complemented by Lambert’s many choices in handmade ceramics, classic country woodcrafts, textile art and a gaggle of giftware.

With hand-worked silver jewelry for a discerning dresser and funky, fun body jewelry for that flashier look, Cariboo Consignment and Crafts has something for everyone, says Lambert, who really encourages anyone who hasn’t yet done so to stop by and check out her extensive stock at the new, spacious location in the old Meline’s building beside the Lone Butte General Store.

With all these fashions, jewelry, art and decor treasures on hand, one can’t fail to look cute in the Butte.
