2012 BC Winter Games in Vernon, B.C.
The 2012 BC Winter Games will be hosted in Vernon B.C., with hundreds of the best young athletes converging from all corners of the province Feb. 23-26. The BC Winter Games features 17 sports, including five types of skiing, figure skating, speed skating, curling and hockey. It also features several indoor sports like archery, badminton, gymnastics, judo, and karate.
More than 2,000 community volunteers are involved in planning and staging the BC Winter Games. The Corporate and Funding Partners of the Games include Province of B.C., Black Press, Jazz Air, Global BC, the City of Vernon, and School District #22. These partners, along with local business support through the Friends of the Games program, ensure the success of the BC Winter Games.
The venues for the Greater Vernon BC Winter Games include famed Silver Star Mountain, as well as five secondary schools and the 3,000-seat Wesbild Centre arena, which will host ice hockey and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
