TORONTO (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index opened lower on Thursday, dragged down by a slip in oil and gold producers on the resource-laden market and a drop in Manulife Financial after it announced a major stock offering.

The S&P/TSX composite index fell 58 points, or 0.5 percent, to 11,594.69 at the open.
